Fatal crossings

A Center for Investigative Reporting review of 434 pedestrian deaths in the past five years found that one-third of pedestrians were legally in a crosswalk when they were struck. Even when found or suspected to be at fault, the drivers who hit those pedestrians faced no criminal charges in about 60 percent of the cases, CIR found.
